Coupon Distribution (Chu Che Pati)

Today is the actual coupon distribution day. After much thought and evaluation from all the data collected from the previous day of individual visits, we have all decided to follow a strict numbers system:

Blankets

1-2 people = one blanket
3-4 people = two blankets
5-6 people = three blankets
7 and above = four blankets

Multi-purpose Beds

1-2 people = one bed
3-4 people = two beds
5 and above = three beds

The whole planning was to have ten tables with two of our volunteers and one of the local volunteer to help write in Nepali and translate. Our volunteers' job is to write the date and time and making sure to stamp the right amount of stamps on the actual coupon.

So life always throws curve balls at ya!!! Today was no exception either! We all thought that we had clearly communicated all the details to the site coordinator, but we soon found out that was not the case at all. Whenever he nodded in agreement and said he understood us, he really was just saving face! He didn't want to admit he did not understand our English! Oh boy was the first part of the coupon distribution a GIANT, and I mean GIANT DISASTER! haha.

We had the open area divided into eight separate sections, with each section marked with the group of tent numbers we were asking for.

Line 1 : 0-100
Line 2 : 101-200
Line 3 : 201-300
Line 4: 301-400
Line 5: 401-500
Line 6: 501-600
Line 7: 601-700
Line 8: All new tents that do not have a number, for those who are not on the other lists, all tent numbers over 700.

For some odd reason, the numbers got all mixed up and someone even marked on the signs "family members" instead of "tent number." hahahha.....try having 700 members in your family!!! No idea how that logic came about, but anyways, it was quickly fixed. We restarted the whole thing and it finally got back to order after about an hour of re-communication.

In the afternoon, the A group headed back to our designated care areas and visited each and every case! All the families were so happy to see us! They immediately yell "Tzu Chi, Tzu Chi" upon seeing our volunteers!
