Four Relief Distributions: Bode, Maheswari, IDP, Libali

Today was the big day!!!! Four relief distributions in one day! We will be distributing both blankets and beds! It is going to be a huge work out! Everyone bring out your muscles!

Challenge accepted! READY! GO!

Bode Camp
-242 families
-578 blankets
-549 beds

Maheswari Camp
-194 families
-495 beds

IDP Camp
-60 families
-169 blankets
-154 beds

Libali Camp
-43 families
-98 blankets
-94 beds

9 trucks total for relief goods this morning! Thanks to Kevin and all the local storage volunteers for their grand effort! Night and day, everyday, sorting and moving all the beds and blankets! They are so awesome! Couldn't have done it without each and everyone of you!
We needed a stage area for the distribution ceremony and the local residents were very quick on their feet. They piled all the sand bags together and then opened one sand bag to fill in the areas that are uneven. What an amazing team of people! I've learned a lot from them! Super high EQ!

Look at the beautiful result! Waterproof and stain proof! So much wisdom and diligent work!

We had about 100 volunteers total in helping in each designated station: Response, Ushers, Administration, and Crowd Control teams. Everyone had a hand in helping.

The management team was very efficient in putting up posts for the distribution flow chart, but the spacing was too small. So we quickly got a line of people to widen each of the line-up spaces.

Who needs a hammer when you've got a giant rock?

Bamboo and rope are the essential materials for relief distributions at tent camps!

Look at how perfectly the blankets are lined up! All ready to go!
These local storage volunteers have been with us ever since the 3rd relief team (about a month and a half). They are experts now with the relief goods process!

This is how we put up a banner in the tent camps! They found three thick and tall bamboos and one of the residents climbed all the way to the top to hang the banner. It was like climbing a coconut tree! This is what unity looks like! RESPECT!

4 lines: 1 stamp, 2 stamps, 3 stamps, 4 stamps

Teaching sign language: "Tzu" "Chi"

Way to go Grandpa! You got it down to a T!

All the residents were so grateful for Tzu Chi's help that they all gathered the little money they had and bought us these super fancy Khadas and Dhaka Topis (National Nepalese Hat). The best quality Khada would bear the imprint of the eight auspicious symbols, one of them being the Knot of Eternity, representing the entwined, never ending passage of harmony and love. This is exactly the spirit of Great Love and the method of the bamboo bank! I am so touched by their gestures and kind hearts! It is truly an honor to be able to create such positive affinities with these people.

Normally the Dhaka Topi is only wore by men in Nepal, but they gave me one during the honoring ceremony because they said that I work like a man! hahaha, so I've earned it! So sweet!

Each of the Multi-purpose beds weigh 15kg. Most of the volunteers are not able to carry the beds effectively, so I always try to help out the best that I can. I use the methods that I learned in Haiti. It comes in quite handy! Thank you Haiti!

Showing the residents how to correctly use the Multi-purpose beds!

Thanks to local police forces for their help in making sure all perimeters are secure. Everything goes so much smoother when policemen are around. They even helps us carry the beds to each tent. You guys are awesome! Hats off to you guys!

Many of the children were the ones coming with the distribution coupon to get the relief goods, because many parents work in the fields during the day, so only the children are home. Our local volunteers are so thoughtful and are of great help to looking after these children.

This baby was so happy and crawling all over the freshly made multi-purpose beds!

~ Thank you Nepalese volunteers! You guys rock!!!! ~
